2012 still livin the life

here it is 2012.
this year i pay attention to the "signs" the little messages i see in my life, my gut feelings the things I know. And in its most perfect of ways this was made most clear on none other than 1-1-2012.

i've been making excuses. not to run...not to eat right...not to do the things that got me here. ive been doing all of the things that got me there...so i ran a half marathon...its kinda like so what? now...in the moment it was great and i lived on the high for weeks...then it got cold and mama doesnt like running in the cold and the holidays...oh the holidays. food glorious food and suddenly im tired all the time, im irritated and i gained 20lbs back quick...so i got the new jillian michaels dvd and its good always...but i kinda miss this running thing and if it wasnt so damn cold....so i want a new treadmill for christmas but really we cant afford it. so i wont be getting it...
I have to work on new years day and my work mates and i are chatting about of course new years resolutions with fitness being top of the list...an lady wants a makeover for a party she is going to and doesnt have an appointment and luckily i am free and i take her...Alisa. Meeting Alisa will change my year maybe my life, she was a marathon trainer. haha. right...i told her my story it was a great inspirational sign that running is now in my life for a reason, she told me to blow 2:30 out of the water and shoot for 2 hours! she said her 50 yr ol mama ran a half in 2;30. 2 days later my husband brought me a new to me treadmill. its 20 some years old but the mat looks as if its never been used.
so ive been running again and it feels so good! huge hurdle...i love running so much that i actually ran in front of my husband. so i set the treadmill in our living room but in a back corner out of the way so i can see the tv while running but someone on our couch has their back to me. anyway i had been sick and having migranes all week and that saturday i woke up with a migrane and i really wanted to run and clear my head and my hubby came home early from work sick... normally i would welcome the chance to ditch the workout but i knew it would make me feel better. so husband on the couch i went for my run...until my 2 yr old peed in his bed and then it was over.
I found that Vancouver has a marathon and half in June, I am hoping to pay the registration this week and run 6-17-12. it is cheaper than the portland one and i am not sure about fundraising or what so at the least i cant cop out on running a half this year and i may still decide to run in portland in october too.. two halfs equal a full and who knows what next year might bring????

HALF MARATHON 10.9.11 #1

So because of technical difficulties I may not be able to actually post this until tomorrow but I wanted to document the event on the day. It's amazing today October 9th 2011 I Jenna Nellis 33-419 ran the Portland Half Marathon in 2:52:10! My best time ever 13 minute miles and i didn't stop to pee once! And I was scared...being that I had a dream that my phone fell in the port a potty! And appropriately I said " oh shit". It was fun I saw many interesting people and although I didn't run with my group it was about me just doing it. I has a great play list to listen to i started to "edge of seventeen" by stevie nicks...cried at mile 5 listening to Mountains by Lonestar. And ended with p!nk. Miles 10 thru 13.1 I heard Jillian saying "don't phone it in!" "finish it" The boys met me after the race and they were upset they didn't catch me actually finishing, its ok. I got a medal and gave it to Nate my coach, I told him he deserved it for all the days i made him hike up Hazel Dell Hill. Dustin even says he wants to do it next year! Yay new motivation. Not only To get my hubby healthy but to beat him and my time next year! Now we're here at the beach condo, Dustin went and caught me an awesome crab dinner! And finally relaxing. Today was a good day I achieved what I used to think was an unattainable goal for me once being 300. Lbs u wouldn't have known it today today I became the athlete I've always wanted to be and I looked back on my first blog entry and I talked about how much I wanted to be a runner and now I can confidently say I am and I do run for a reason. I am already looking forward to next year. #runmamarun

I need this

I was thinking today that I cannot believe I just stopped writing this journal like I got to 184 lbs and the journey just stopped I have been thru so much these past few months I guess I feel like I've had no extra time to journal my journey.
In 3 dAys I run my first ever half marathon ive been training for the past 12 weeks. I've been trying to run 4-5 days a week and although I've only gone up to 9 miles I know I can go the extra distance on Sunday. I also thru the help of family and friends raised $675 for the children's tumor foundation which secured my spot in the Portland marathon. It's a pretty wild achievement for me I never NEVER thought I would run in something like this... Do I even know me anymore? Yes a much better version of me. Ive continued to workout to my Jillian DVDs i even got the Jillian fitness ultimatum game. I will need these because it's starting to get cold outside. I have not kept my food journal I gave it up awhile ago I feel like I learned what to eat to lose weight aka cereal! Lol and I do still eat better but i splurge a lot more too. I am so excited to run my half marathon milestone

run for a reason

run for a reason...what this saying means to me and for my maintenance. I have not only found a reason to run but I now have a new goal and inspiration to keep running. October 9th 2011 i will be running my first half marathon! i can not believe that i am doing this! I have been working on my endurance and running on my treadmill. its almost funny to me that one of my 2011 new years resolutions/goals was to only run a 10 minute mile and now not only could i do that but in 7 months i will be running 13.1.
I am in the 190's now and I continue to work out with Jillian as well as run. I am so excited for next week, I know that when I started this blog I commented that I really wanted to run at the beach and it is another realization that will be coming true in the next week. We are going on a family trip to Lincoln City and although i am looking forward to spending time with my family- i cant wait to get away for a run! on the beach!! and even more exciting is I can run I can go 3 miles or more before i want a rest. It is a great feeling.
Another great thing about going to the beach is the shopping! there is a huge outlet mall and i will be getting some new size 10 pants and m/l shirts! omg i am average! its awesome things are going great and i love my fitness options and what i am doing ive even started food journaling again on my new ipod touch! finally it was my motivational tool to get me to the marathon! me gonna be a half marathoner...maybe one day ill do the whole dang thang...

197

under 200!!!!!!!!!! over 100 pounds lost since having my baby in 2009! 70 lbs in the past 8 months. WOW! I am amazing and amazed that I finally did it and did it well and healthy and my body is becoming so fit and skinny! I love what working out has done for me. It is the part of my day I look forward too. I got a wii fit for christmas! it is fun i like the biggest loser game it is challenging and a good workout. I also just got 6 week 6 pack a new Jillian DVD and it is insane! I did both levels and am thinking it was a bad idea i may not be able to workout at all tomorrow LOL. things are good and i have learned good lessions and quick fixes for my eating habits. I look forward to lose a few more lbs but I am happy here too. Ive been doing good on my 10 min mile, i ran 3x last week and got down to 12.30 major progress but it is really cold this week and I have not ran so when it warms up a little I will try to get my # down. :) Next for me...heart rate monitor so I make sure I am working out hard enough and see how long it takes me to run a city mile vs. treadmill mile.
